WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?

Starting as a fun thought experiment about how a tarot game could be best designed to fit inside the manifold worlds and settings found in the TTRPG scene, FINAL FORTUNE quickly grew into a game itself. Inspired by the games found in the Final Fantasy series, as well as the language, worlds, and conflicts found in fighting games, this is a system where combat is both mechanical AND interpretive. Whether you pick it up as a fun and quick game to play with your buddies, or you decide to incorporate it into your setting, FINAL FORTUNE is for you.

It’s about the unique fighting spirits of your characters.
It’s about the thrill of success, and the desperation of defeat.
It’s about world building, and giving form to something usually kept ephemeral.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

FINAL FORTUNE is a card game designed explicitly to fit into multiple worlds. It can inhabit your setting as a simple tavern game and hold no higher importance than that. It can also exist within your setting as a thematic and important game, telling the story of climactic duels and long forgotten struggles. It can be a tool for prophecy, a weaponry for curses, or even a baroque manner of navigation.
It can be used for PvP conflict instead of traditional combat rules, it can be an exploration of collaborative worldbuilding between players and GM. However you decide to implement it, FINAL FORTUNE is system-agnostic in the purest sense. Like Tarot itself, this game can be whatever you want it to be.

In short, FINAL FORTUNE is for everyone.
